Very important is a road loss of third ranked United (6-3) against sixth ranked Illawarra Hawks (3-5) on Thursday night. Visiting United was defeated by Illawarra Hawks in a tough game in Gwynneville 81-87. Illawarra Hawks players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American forward Brian Conklin (201-89, college: St.Louis) nailed 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and the former international center David Andersen (213-80) accounted for 18 points. American forward Josh Boone (208-84, college: Connecticut) came up with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import point guard Casper Ware (178-90, college: Long Beach St.) added 18 points and 4 assists respectively for United in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Illawarra Hawks maintains sixth place with 3-5 record. Defending champion United dropped to the second position with three games lost. Illawarra Hawks will play against Adelaide 36ers (#7) in Findon in the next round. United will play at home against Bullets (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
