Regular Season Round 9: Guangdong ST - Guangzhou LL 125-110

Undefeated leader Guandong Tigers delivered the ninth consecutive victory on Thursday night. This time they beat 8th ranked Long-Lions (5-4) 125-110 in Dongguan. Guandong Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Long-Lions' 40 and made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. American swingman Sonny Weems (198-86, college: Arkansas) stepped up and scored 37 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and the former international forward Peng Zhou (210-89) chipped in 26 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Guandong Tigers' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American point guard Kyle Fogg (190-90, college: Arizona) with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import power forward Marreese Speights (208-87, college: Florida) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Guandong Tigers and five Long-Lions players scored in double figures. Guandong Tigers (9-0) have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 9 victories in a row. Long-Lions lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with Beijing Ducks and Shandong GS. Guandong Tigers will meet Bayi Rockets (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Long-Lions will play against Sturgeons (#13) and hope to secure a win.
