Regular Season Round 10: Soles - Aaguacateros 83-65

Top ranked Aaguacateros (7-2) recorded its second loss in Mexicali on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked Soles (5-4) 83-65. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Aaguacateros. Soles dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Aaguacateros' 24. They outrebounded Aaguacateros 39-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. Soles looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Aaguacateros' players. The former international point guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (175-86, college: W.Kentucky, agency: Pro Sports) fired 15 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. American forward Jeremis Smith (203-86, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Soles players scored in double figures. Soles' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) produced 12 points and 7 rebounds and Colombian guard Michaell Jackson (190-87) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Soles moved-up to third place. Aaguacateros at the other side still keep top position with two games lost. They share it with Fuerza Regia and Capitanes. Soles are again looking forward to face league's leader Aaguacateros in Michoacan in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aaguacateros will have a break next round.
