Regular Season Round 5: COR-Borisfen - Impuls BGUIR 77-65

No shocking result in a game in Mogilev where third ranked COR-Borisfen (5-1) defeated 7th ranked Impuls BGUIR (2-4) 77-65. It looked good early as Impuls BGUIR took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then COR-Borisfen had a 26-9 second period charge getting the lead and Impuls BGUIR was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-77. COR-Borisfen dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Impuls BGUIR's 32. COR-Borisfen forced 21 Impuls BGUIR turnovers. American guard Brian Starr (190-96, college: Towson) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points, 6 assists and 7 steals. Russian forward Benjamin-Pavel Dudu (198-91, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Starr is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. COR-Borisfen's coach Andrei Krivonos allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Yury Ignatiev (202-91) answered with 21 points and 7 rebounds and forward Denis Sivatskiy (198-98) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Impuls BGUIR. COR-Borisfen maintains third place with 5-1 record behind leader Grodno-93. Impuls BGUIR lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Rubon. COR-Borisfen will play against Tsmoki II (#5) in Minsk in the next round. Impuls BGUIR will play at home against the league's leader Grodno-93 and hopes to get back on the winning track.
