Regular Season Round 6: Njardvik - KR 85-67

Very important is a road loss of third ranked KR (4-2) against fourth ranked Njardvik (5-1) on Friday night. Visiting KR was defeated by Njardvik in Njardvik 85-67. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of KR. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Njardvik. KR managed to win third quarter 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Croatian forward Mario Matasovic (203-93, college: Sacred Heart) who scored 24 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). American point guard Jeb Ivey (190-80, college: Portland St.) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. Four Njardvik players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Julian Boyd (201-90, college: LIU Brooklyn) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and international guard Jon Stefansson (192-82) added 10 points and 6 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Njardvik keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Keflavik and Tindastoll. Defending champion KR dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with Stjarnan. Njardvik will meet Grindavik (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. KR will play against Haukar (#7) and hope to secure a win.
