Regular Season Round 5: Sindri - Fjolnir 83-117

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Sindri (1-5) was smashed at home by fourth ranked Fjolnir (4-1) 117-83 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Fjolnir. Sindri was better in second period 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Sindri's 36. They outrebounded Sindri 50-36 including a 38-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Anton Grady (203-92, college: Wichita St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 23 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Guard Robert Sigurdsson (187-94) contributed with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Fjolnir players scored in double figures. Fjolnir's coach Falur Hardarson felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Barrington Stevens-III (183-92, college: S.Alabama) answered with 24 points and American-German guard Kenny Fluellen (191-90, college: Paine) added 22 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Sindri. Fjolnir have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Sindri lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. Fjolnir will face Hottur (#5) in Egilsstadir in the next round. Sindri will play on the road against FSU in Selfoss and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
