Regular Season Round 9: Zhejiang Ch. - Qingdao E. 118-122

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Golden Bulls (7-5) against twentieth ranked Eagles (2-7) on Friday night. Host Golden Bulls were defeated by Eagles in a tough game in Hangzhou 118-122. Eagles dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Golden Bulls' 44. Golden Bulls were plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import power forward Dakari Johnson (213-95, college: Kentucky) contributed with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Eagles players scored in double figures. American guard Marcus Denmon (191-90, college: Missouri, agency: BeoBasket) answered with a double-double by scoring 51 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 8 assists (went 16 for 16 at the free throw line !!!) and international guard Qian Wu (190-94) added 16 points and 7 assists in the effort for Golden Bulls. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Eagles moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Golden Bulls at the other side keep the third position with five games lost. Eagles will play against higher ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (#7) in Hangzhou in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Golden Bulls will play on the road against Beijing Ducks (#8) and hope to get back on the winning track.
