Regular Season Round 8: Nacional - Defensor 87-92
Date: November 9, 2018
Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Montevideo: Defensor (#1) and Nacional (#8). Despite it looked like an easy game for Defensor, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Host Nacional challenged much higher ranked Defensor giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by five points 92-87. Strangely Nacional outrebounded Defensor 42-30 including 27 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Patrick Sanders (201-85, college: Cal-Irvine) who helped to win the game recording 24 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and the other American import point guard Corin Henry (181-88, college: Tarleton St., agency: Octagon Europe) who added 17 points and 5 assists during the contest. Forward Santiago Moglia (196-89) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and American center Callistus Eziukwu (208-85, college: Grand Valley St.) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Four Defensor and five Nacional players scored in double figures. Defensor have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-1 record. Nacional lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Defensor's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo .
