Very expected game in Barcelona where 9th ranked Segle XXI (2-3) was defeated by top-ranked Ardoi (6-0) 52-46 on Saturday. Ardoi held Segle XXI to an opponent 24.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 29.5 percent accuracy of the winners. Strangely Segle XXI outrebounded Ardoi 42-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. Argentinian forward Maria Lineira (182-83) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Maite Gil (-88) chipped in 18 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Helena Pueyo (182-1) with 13 points and point guard Estel Puiggros (179-1) scored 8 points. Segle XXI's coach Javier Torralba let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Ardoi have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group A leader, which they share with RC Celta. Loser Segle XXI dropped to the tenth place with three games lost. Ardoi will face Cerdanyola (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Segle XXI will play against Rioja (#5) in Azkoitia and hope to win that game.
