Regular Season Round 7: Spezzina - Orvieto 71-49

Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Orvieto (0-7) was outscored by third ranked Spezzina (6-1) in La Spezia 71-49 on Saturday. Spezzina dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Orvieto's 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Orvieto's players. It was a very good performance for Croatian guard Lana Packovski (170-94) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 5 assists (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). The former international guard Elisa Templari (175-89, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 17 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Spezzina's coach Marco Corsolini felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Selene Grilli (162-99) answered with 15 points and 4 assists and swingman Flavia De-Cassan (177-98, agency: SPORTlab Agency) added 7 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Orvieto. Spezzina moved-up to second place in A2. Loser Orvieto still closes the standings with seven games lost. Spezzina will face San Salvatore (#6) on the road in the next round. Orvieto will play against Roma Elite (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
