Regular Season Round 7: Politechn.Gd. - Widzew 50-82

An interesting game took place in Gdansk where 9th ranked Politechnika Gdanska (1-6) was upset on its own court by twelfth ranked Widzew (2-5) 82-50 on Saturday. Widzew looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for Croatian Klaudija Perisa (180-96) who led her team to a victory scoring 17 points and 6 assists. International Aleksandra Pawlak (189-84, agency: Promotex) helped adding 15 points and 6 assists. Four Widzew players scored in double figures. At the losing side Martyna Pyka (178-95) responded with 12 points and 5 rebounds and forward Paulina Szymanska (185-90, agency: Promotex) scored 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Widzew moved-up to eighth place, which they share with MKK Siedlce. Newly promoted Politechnika Gdanska dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. Widzew will face higher ranked Wisla Krakow (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
