Regular Season Round 7: Saitama Bron. - Tokyo Excel. 71-77

The game between Top Four teams took place in Saitama. 4th placed host Saitama Broncos (5-7) lost to second ranked Tokyo Excel. (11-1) 77-71. Tokyo Excel. outrebounded Saitama Broncos 40-27 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American center Ryan Stephan (208-94, college: Colorado Mesa) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Jordan Faison (201-94, college: Cal Poly Pomona) helped adding 20 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Tokyo Excel. players scored in double figures. At the losing side American center Joshua Crawford (211-88, college: Indiana St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Masaya Ueda (177-93) scored 18 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tokyo Excel. have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Koshigaya A. Saitama Broncos at the other side keep the fourth place with seven games lost. Tokyo Excel. is looking forward to face Iwate Big Bulls (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Saitama Broncos will play against the league's leader Koshigaya A. and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
