Thirteenth-ranked SKY/Basquete (1-8) gave a tough game to fourth ranked Pinheiros (6-3) in Sao Paulo on Saturday. Pinheiros managed to secure only two-point victory 88-86. However their fans expected much easier game. Pinheiros made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 SKY/Basquete turnovers. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) who scored 21 points. Guard Cordero Bennett (188-88) chipped in 18 points. Guard Rashaun McLemore (193-86, college: CS Northridge) produced 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Farad Cobb (183-93, college: Cincinnati) added 18 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Five Pinheiros and four SKY/Basquete players scored in double figures. Pinheiros moved-up to third place. SKY/Basquete lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with eight games lost. Pinheiros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. SKY/Basquete will play against Botafogo F.R. (#5) and hope to win that game.
