Regular Season Round 8: Unicaja-Andalucia - Almeria 73-64

There was a small surprise in Malaga where eighth ranked Unicaja-Andalucia (2-4) won against 6th ranked Almeria (3-3) 73-64 on Saturday. Unicaja-Andalucia had a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Lucas Munoz (182-1) who scored 18 points. Senegalese power forward Ablaye Sow (208-99) chipped in 9 points and 13 rebounds. American power forward Mike Middlebrooks (206-92, college: Adams St.) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 20 rebounds and 7 blocks and Luis Hernandez added 15 points and 7 assists respectively for the guests. Four Almeria players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Unicaja-Andalucia moved-up to seventh place in Group D-A, which they share with Andujar. Loser Almeria dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Unicaja-Andalucia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Malaga to the arena Novaschool.
