Regular Season Round 5: Nancy - Vichy Clermont 88-52

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of JA Vichy (4-1) on the court of fifth ranked Sluc Nancy on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Sluc Nancy 88-52. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of JA Vichy. Sluc Nancy looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by JA Vichy's players. Meredis Houmounou (188-88) stepped up and scored 8 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and center Bastien Vautier (210-98) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Romuald Morency (202-95) responded with 5 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Mehdy-Sofian Ngouama (188-95, college: Alabama St.) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sluc Nancy moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated JA Vichy. Sluc Nancy is looking forward to face Aix-Maurienne (#7) in Aix-les-Bains in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. JA Vichy will play at home against Saint Chamond (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
