Regular Season Round 7: Iwate Big Bulls - Tokyo Cinq R. 71-88

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Iwate Big Bulls (3-9) were defeated at home by third ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (7-5) 88-71 on Saturday. Tokyo Cinq R. made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Deangelo Kirkland (203-89, college: Columbus St., agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import center Joe Wolfinger (216-85, college: Citadel) helped adding 21 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side guard Tatsunori Fujie (184-87) responded with 21 points and 7 assists and American Titus Robinson (201-90, college: Buffalo) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Iwate Big Bulls' coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Tokyo Cinq R. maintains third place with 7-5 record having four points less than leader Koshigaya A. Loser Iwate Big Bulls keep the sixth position with nine games lost. Tokyo Cinq R. will face Aisin AW (#8) in Aichi in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Iwate Big Bulls will play on the road against the league's second-placed Tokyo Excel. and hope to win that game.
