Bottom-ranked Gipuzkoa managed to get a second victory on Saturday night. This time they won against eleventh-ranked Burgos in San Sebastian 92-83. Burgos was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Gipuzkoa shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by the former international forward Alberto Corbacho (200-84) who scored that evening 25 points and Georgian Beqa Burjanadze (201-94) supported him with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by American forward Deon Thompson (203-88, college: N.Carolina, agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Burgos. Serbian center Goran Huskic (210-92, college: Howard Col., TX) added 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Four Burgos players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gipuzkoa (2-6) moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with Gran Canaria. Loser Burgos keeps the eleventh position with five games lost. They share it with Obradoiro and Fuenlabrada. Gipuzkoa will meet league's second-placed Real Madrid on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Burgos will play against La ICL Manresa (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
