Regular Season Round 7: Oviedo - Real Canoe 78-56

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Oviedo CB and 10th ranked Real Canoe had identical 3-3 record. This time Oviedo CB used a home court advantage and rolled over the opponent from Madrid 78-56 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 15-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-56. Oviedo CB outrebounded Real Canoe 39-26 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Dutch forward Joey van-Zegeren (208-90, college: Northwestern) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Center Oliver Arteaga (208-83) helped adding 13 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side forward Ander Martinez (199-95) responded with 13 points and Jose-Miguel Perez (202-96) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Oviedo CB (4-3) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Granada and Melilla. Newly promoted Real Canoe keeps the tenth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Oviedo CB will meet Barca II (#13) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Real Canoe will play against Castello and hope to secure a win.
