Regular Season Round 7: AZS UMCS - Energa Torun 61-66

Rather expected game in Lublin where 10th ranked AZS UMCS (1-6) was defeated by seventh ranked Energa Torun (4-1) 66-61 on Saturday. It was a great evening for Canadian guard Nirra Fields (175-93, college: UCLA) who led her team to a victory scoring 21 points and 7 rebounds. Lithuanian power forward Laura Svaryte (190-92) helped adding 10 points and 15 rebounds. Energa Torun's coach Stefan Svitek used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American guard Brianna Kiesel (170-93, college: Pittsburgh) responded with 24 points and 9 rebounds and Ukrainian forward Kateryna Rymarenko (185-90) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Energa Torun. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Artego Bydg. AZS UMCS lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with six games lost. Energa Torun will face higher ranked Arka Gdynia (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AZS UMCS will play against Enea AZS P. (#10) in Poznan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
