Regular Season Round 6: Osijek - Gorica 82-80

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Gorica (2-4) was edged on the road by fifth ranked KK Vrijednosnice Osijek (4-2) 82-80 on Saturday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 23-19 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. KK Vrijednosnice Osijek dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Gorica's 22. The best player for the winners was forward Ozren Pavlovic (203-94, college: Hawaii) who scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. Nigerian forward Abdul-Malik Abu (203-95, college: NC State) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Marko Bakovic (205-93, agency: PEPI SPORT) who recorded 19 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Borna Kapusta (182-96) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively. Gorica's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. KK Vrijednosnice Osijek moved-up to third place, which they share with Split and Zadar. Newly promoted Gorica dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. KK Vrijednosnice Osijek will face league's second-placed Cibona in Zagreb in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gorica will play at home against Split (#4) and hope to win that game.
