Regular Season Round 5: Perth - UC Capitals 71-65

Date: November 10, 2018
An interesting game for Perth Lynx (5-1) which hosted in Perth second-ranked Canberra Capitals (4-2). First ranked Perth Lynx managed to get a 6-point victory 71-65. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-11. But Canberra Capitals won second period 17-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Brittany McPhee (183-96, college: Stanford) stepped up and scored 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and her fellow American import swingman Alison Schwagmeyer (177-90, college: Quincy) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Perth Lynx players scored in double figures. International forward Kelsey Griffin (188-87, college: Nebraska) responded with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 18 rebounds and Canadian guard Kia Nurse (183-96, college: Connecticut) scored 22 points. Canberra Capitals' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Perth Lynx have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-1 record. Canberra Capitals at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Perth Lynx will play against Boomers (#3) in Melbourne in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Canberra Capitals will play at home against Dandenong Rangers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
