Regular Season Round 7: Niigata R. - Toyota B SR 41-61

Bottom-ranked Niigata R. (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 61-41 loss to eighth ranked Toyota B SR (4-3) in Tokyo. Toyota B SR outrebounded Niigata R. 46-35 including 20 on the offensive glass. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Sari Osabe (174-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Power forward Sakiko Nomachi (177-87) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Inoue Ai (172-90) answered with 15 points and 7 rebounds and forward Saki Iijima (172-92) added 6 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Niigata R.Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toyota B SR moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Denso Iris and Hitachi Cougars. Niigata R. lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. They share the position with Yamanashi QB. Toyota B SR will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Niigata R. will play again at home against Toyota B SR (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
