Regular Season Round 5: Bullets - Breakers 84-85

The most exciting game of round 5 in the NBL took place in Brisbane. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 4th placed Bullets (4-5) to fifth ranked New Zealand Breakers (4-3) 85-84 in the game for the fourth place. New Zealand Breakers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when New Zealand Breakers made 7 blocks. American swingman Patrick Richard (196-90, college: McNeese St., agency: Inception Sports) stepped up and scored 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and New Zealand forward Thomas Abercrombie (198-87, college: Washington St.) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. The former international guard Adam Gibson (188-86) responded with 17 points and 4 assists and American swingman Lamar Patterson (196-91, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 11 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals. Five New Zealand Breakers and four Bullets players scored in double figures. New Zealand Breakers moved-up to fourth place. Bullets at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. New Zealand Breakers are looking forward to face higher ranked Kings (#3) in Sydney in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bullets will play on the road against the league's second-placed United in Melbourne and are hoping to win this game.
