Regular Season Round 10: Jekabpils - Tartu Ulikool 74-93

Bottom-ranked Jekabpils (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 93-74 loss to sixth ranked Tartu Ulikool (5-3) in Jekabpils. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Jekabpils' 30. They outrebounded Jekabpils 35-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Tartu Ulikool players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian forward Julius Kazakauskas (196-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Lithuanian point guard Arnas Velicka (192-99, agency: Players Group) contributed with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. The former international center Jurijs Aleksejevs (202-85) replied with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Verners Kohs (203-97) added 19 points in the effort for Jekabpils. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tartu Ulikool moved-up to fifth place, which they share with BK Ogre. Jekabpils at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Tartu Ulikool will play against Rapla (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Jekabpils will have a break next round.
