Very expected game when 12th ranked Trefl II Sopot (1-6) was smashed on the road by fifth ranked Miedzychod (5-3) 111-62 on Sunday. Miedzychod dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Trefl II Sopot's 34 and made 29-of-38 free shots (76.3 percent) during the game, while Trefl II Sopot only scored thirteen points from the stripe. Miedzychod forced 28 Trefl II Sopot turnovers and outrebounded them 44-26 including a 30-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Trefl II Sopot was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Mikolaj Smarzy (191-99) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 9 rebounds. Jakub Simon (202-96) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five Miedzychod players scored in double figures. Center Sebastian Rompa (209-1) replied with 15 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Mateusz Zozun (202-0) added 12 points in the effort for Trefl II Sopot. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Miedzychod moved-up to fourth place in Group A, which they share with Arka II. Loser Trefl II Sopot keeps the twelfth position with six games lost. Miedzychod will have a break next round. Trefl II Sopot will play at home against AZS UMK Torun (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
