Regular Season Round 8: Snaefell - Breidablik 80-69

Leader Snaefell delivered the seventh victory. This time they beat bottom-ranked Breidablik (0-8) 80-69 in Stykkisholmur. The game was mostly controlled by Snaefell. Breidablik was better in second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Snaefell forced 21 Breidablik turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American swingman Kristen McCarthy (180-90, college: Temple) orchestrated the victory with a triple-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 7 steals. The former international guard Gunnhildur Gunnarsdottir (176-90) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Five Snaefell players scored in double figures. Serbian swingman Sanja Orozovic (186-90) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and American guard Kelly Faris (180-91, college: Connecticut, agency: LBM Management) added 24 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Breidablik. Snaefell have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-1 record. Breidablik at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Snaefell will play against league's second-placed Keflavik on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Breidablik will play against Skallagrimur (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
