There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Haneda Vickies (4-4) beat one of their biggest challengers Hitachi Cougars (4-4) in Hitachinaka 67-60. Haneda Vickies made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. 30 personal fouls committed by Hitachi Cougars helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was international guard Nanoko Motohashi (164-93) who scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Mitsuhashi Arisawa (181-95) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Four Haneda Vickies players scored in double figures. Power forward Reimi Nunira (177-93) produced 8 points and 10 rebounds and Saki Matsumoto (178-94) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts.
