Regular Season Round 15: Yamagata - Nishinomiya S. 72-99
Date: November 11, 2018
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed Yamagata (6-9) was crushed at home by fifth ranked Nishinomiya S. (4-11) 99-72 on Sunday. Nishinomiya S. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. His fellow American import center Randy White (203-67, college: Louisiana Tech) helped adding 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Four Nishinomiya S. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American-Irish swingman Will Hanley (201-90, college: Bowdoin, agency: Duran International) with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Yoshifumi Nakajima (176-90) scored 10 points and 5 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Nishinomiya S. moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ehime OV and Kanazawa Sam. Loser Yamagata keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Nishinomiya S. will face higher ranked Shimane Magic (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Yamagata will play against Tokyo Z and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
