There was no surprise when 16th ranked Omnia Basket (1-6) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked San Miniato (5-2) 62-55 on Sunday. San Miniato made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Omnia Basket was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Jacopo Preti (200-94) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Guard Ferdinando Nasello (194-95) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. San Miniato's coach Federico Barsotti used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Andrea Iannilli (207-84) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds and swingman Nicolo Benedusi (193-88, agency: Octagon Europe) added 8 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. San Miniato moved-up to third place in B, which they share with Ozzano and Vicenza. Loser Omnia Basket dropped to the fifteenth position with six games lost. San Miniato will face USE Basket (#13) in Empoli in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Omnia Basket will play at home against Cecina and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
