The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Melsele as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Melsele defeated 7th ranked Ieper at home 82-71. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ieper. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Melsele made 19 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of center Leroy Anthonis (206-90) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Ivan Perez (185-90) who added 14 points and 6 assists during the contest. Four Melsele players scored in double figures. Guard Robin Spaens (180-92) responded with 20 points and swingman Alexander Schepens (191-93) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Ieper at the other side dropped to the eighth place with three games lost. Ieper will play next round against strong Oxaco trying to get back on the winning streak. Melsele will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Spirou B in Charleroi.
