Regular Season Round 15: Niigata Albirex - Hokkaido L. 82-76

Very expected game when 5th ranked Hokkaido L. (4-11) was defeated on the road by first ranked Niigata Albirex (11-4) 82-76 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Niigata Albirex made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) who recorded 19 points and 8 rebounds and Spanish center David Doblas (206-81) added 12 points and 13 rebounds respectively. Hokkaido L.'s coach Jose Neto let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Niigata Albirex have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-4 record, which they share with Chiba Jets and Ryukyu GK. Hokkaido L. lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face Akita Happinets (#5) on the road in the next round. Hokkaido L. will play against the league's second-placed Toshiba Thunders and hope to win that game.
