No shocking result in a game when second ranked Groningen (6-1) crushed at home 9th ranked Amsterdam (1-7) 86-55. They outrebounded Amsterdam 49-34 including 35 on the defensive glass. American point guard Jordan Callahan (184-90, college: Tulane) fired 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. His fellow American import forward Joseph Wall (199-89, college: Seattle Pacific) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Coach Erik Braal's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Center Berend Weijs (207-88, college: Maryland) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks and the former international swingman Dimeo Van-Der-Horst (197-91) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. The victory was the third consecutive win for Groningen. Defending champion maintains second place with 6-1 record having just three points less than leader Zwolle. Amsterdam lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the ninth position with seven games lost. Groningen's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Weert (#10) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Amsterdam will play against Leiden and hope to win that game.
