Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Martorell and 11th ranked Salou had identical 2-5 record. But Salou was not able to use a home court advantage and was smashed by the opponent from Martorell 79-58 on Sunday night. Martorell outrebounded Salou 43-29 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Salou was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was point guard Albert Valle (181-92) who scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Jordi Ramon (198-90) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). American forward CJ Barksdale (203-92, college: Virginia Tech) produced 22 points and 5 rebounds and guard Eloi Galofre (195-87) added 7 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Salou's coach Jesus Muniz gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Martorell have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place in Group C-A, which they share with Castellbisbal. Salou lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. Martorell will face higher ranked Mataro Parc Boet (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Salou will play against Mataro Feimat (#3) and hope to win that game.
