Regular Season Round 9: Helsingborg - Djurgarden 88-100

Date: November 11, 2018
Superettan top team - Djurgarden (6-0) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Helsingborg (3-4) 100-88. The game was mostly controlled by Djurgarden. Helsingborg was better in fourth quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Djurgarden players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American power forward Germain Jordan (198-86, college: Dillard) stepped up and scored 39 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Serbian center Dragoljub Kitanovic (203-85, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Danish forward Mads Rasmussen (198-88) with 18 points and 5 rebounds and forward Erik Joelsson (196-97) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Helsingborg's coach Martin Fastberg tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Djurgarden. They maintain first place with 6-0 record. Newly promoted Helsingborg keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Djurgarden will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Helsingborg will play on the road against IK Eos (#4) in Lund and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
