Regular Season Round 8: Niigata R. - Toyota B SR 38-68

Bottom-ranked Niigata R. is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their eighth consecutive match to fifth ranked Toyota B SR (5-3) 68-38 on Sunday evening. Toyota B SR dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata R.'s 26. Toyota B SR forced 20 Niigata R. turnovers and outrebounded them 50-39 including 23 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toyota B SR made 7 blocks. The winners were led by power forward Sari Osabe (174-87) who scored that evening 19 points and 9 rebounds and the former international swingman Masami Honda (175-91) supported her with 13 points. Even 9 points and 10 rebounds by forward Saki Iijima (172-92) did not help to save the game for Niigata R.. Hatanaka Miho (177-85) added 4 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toyota B SR moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Denso Iris. Loser Niigata R. still closes the standings with eight games lost. They share the position with Yamanashi QB. Toyota B SR will meet Aishin Wings (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Niigata R. will play against Fujitsu RW and hopes to get finally their first victory.
