Regular Season Round 8: Fujitsu RW - Toyota A. 72-70

The most exciting game of round 8 in the WJBL took place in Kawasaki. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Toyota A. (6-2) to seventh ranked Fujitsu RW (4-4) 72-70 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Toyota A.. International point guard Rui Machida (162-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Chikae Uchino (176-93) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Moeko Nagaoka (182-93) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and international center Stephanie Mawuli (181-98) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Toyota A.Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Fujitsu RW moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Hitachi Cougars and Haneda Vickies. Toyota A. at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Mitsubishi K.. Fujitsu RW is looking forward to face Niigata R. (#11) in Tokyo in the next round where they are favorite. Toyota A. will play at home against Denso Iris (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
