Very predictable result in Beijing where tenth ranked Sturgeons (6-5) defeated 17th ranked Fly Dragons (3-8) 140-131 on Tuesday. Sturgeons dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Fly Dragons' 32. They outrebounded Fly Dragons 57-35 including a 46-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American-Ukrainian point guard Eugene Jeter (180-83, college: Portland) who had a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 11 assists. Canadian Andrew Nicholson (206-89, college: St.Bonaventure) chipped in a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. American point guard Pierre Jackson (180-91, college: Baylor) produced a double-double by scoring 48 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 15 assists and 4 steals and the other American import forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) added 19 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sturgeons maintains tenth place with 6-5 record, which they share with Guangzhou LL. Fly Dragons at the other side dropped to the sixteenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Bayi R.. Sturgeons will meet at home higher ranked Golden Stars (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fly Dragons will play against Jiangsu Dragons (#14) in Nanjing and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
