Regular Season Round 8: Vic - Alicante 72-87

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Vic (1-7) was defeated at home by second ranked HLA Alicante (6-2) 87-72 on Wednesday. It was a great shooting night for HLA Alicante especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was Guinean forward Cheick-Sekou Conde (203-92) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Devin Schmidt (193-94, college: Delta St., agency: Duran International) chipped in 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American forward Kyle Benton (201-95, college: N.C.Central) produced 20 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Roger Fornas (202-82) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. HLA Alicante keeps a position of Silver leader. Newly promoted Vic keeps the twelfth place with seven games lost. HLA Alicante will face Moron (#6) in Morón de la Frontera in the next round where they are favorite. Vic will play at home against the league's second-placed Real Murcia (#2) and hope to win that game.
