Regular Season Round 8: Zornotza - Plasencia 63-75

There was a small surprise in Amorebieta-Echano where eleventh ranked Plasencia (3-5) won against 8th ranked Zornotza (4-5) 75-63 on Wednesday. Strangely Zornotza outrebounded Plasencia 42-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American-Jamaican Duane Morgan (198-93, college: Adelphi) who scored 23 points and 6 steals (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Point guard Diego Gallardo (192-96) chipped in 14 points. Four Plasencia players scored in double figures. Plasencia's coach Rafael Sanz used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Canadian-Haitian forward Kevin Bercy (201-94, college: St.Francis X.) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and American power forward Davie Champagnie (206-90, college: Martin Methodist, agency: SPORTlab Agency) added 14 points and 15 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Plasencia moved-up to ninth place in Silver. Newly promoted Zornotza keeps the eighth position with five games lost. Plasencia will face Gijon (#12) at home in the next round.
