Regular Season Round 9: BC Nokia - Vilpas 86-89

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second-best BC Nokia's (6-4) home loss to first ranked Vilpas (9-1) 86-89 on Wednesday. BC Nokia was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 22-18 charge of Vilpas, which allowed them to win the game. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Brandon Taylor (201-94, college: Penn St.) stepped up and scored 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and point guard Diante Baldwin (180-94, college: NC-Greensboro) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Vilpas' coach Joonas Iisalo allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was swingman Malcolm Bernard (198-94, college: Xavier) with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Sean OMara (208-95, college: Xavier, agency: Inception Sports) scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Vilpas and five BC Nokia players scored in double figures. Vilpas have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 9-1 record. BC Nokia at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost. Vilpas will face UU-Korihait (#10) in Uusikaupunki in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BC Nokia will play on the road against KTP-Basket (#7) in Kotka and hope to win that game.
