Regular Season Round 12: Qingdao E. - Sichuan BW 98-91

There was a minor upset in Qingdao where higher ranked Blue Whales (3-8) were defeated by nineteenth ranked Eagles (3-8) 98-91. Eagles outrebounded Blue Whales 50-38 including 16 on the offensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. It was a good game for power forward Dakari Johnson (213-95, college: Kentucky) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St.) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Jamaal Franklin (196-91, college: San Diego St., agency: Slash Sports) replied with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and power forward Jason Thompson (211-86, college: Rider) added 26 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Blue Whales. Five Eagles and four Blue Whales players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Eagles moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Sichuan BW. Blue Whales lost fifth consecutive game. Eagles will play against league's leader Guandong Tigers in Dongguan in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Blue Whales will play on the road against Sharks (#7) in Shanghai and hope to get back on the winning track.
