Regular Season Round 7: KR - Haukar 97-88

There was no surprise in Reykjavik where 7th ranked Haukar (3-4) was defeated by fourth ranked KR (5-2) 97-88 on Thursday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Haukar won third quarter 34-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. KR made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. KR outrebounded Haukar 44-32 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Guard Bjorn Kristjansson (188-92) fired 21 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American forward Julian Boyd (201-90, college: LIU Brooklyn) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!). International forward Hjalmar Stefansson (196-96) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Marques Oliver (201-91, college: Delaware St.) added 19 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 5-2 record. Loser Haukar keeps the seventh position with four games lost. KR will face Grindavik (#10) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Haukar will play against the league's second-placed Keflavik and hope to win that game.
