Date: November 16, 2018
Leader Vilpas delivered the tenth victory. This time they crushed 10th ranked UU-Korihait (3-8) 110-71 in Salo. The game without a history. Vilpas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Vilpas outrebounded UU-Korihait 44-29 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 17 long-distance shots on high 56.7 percentage. The former international point guard Teemu Rannikko (189-80) notched 19 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American forward Brandon Taylor (201-94, college: Penn St.) supported him with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Four Vilpas players scored in double figures. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by American guard Mario Edwards (191-88, college: Co.Carolina) did not help to save the game for UU-Korihait. His fellow American import forward Brandon Conley (201-93, college: ORU) added 10 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vilpas (10-1) have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position. UU-Korihait lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with eight games lost. Vilpas' next round opponent will be Kouvot (#6) in Kouvola where they are favorite. UU-Korihait will play at home against Helsinki Seagulls (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
