Regular Season Round 11: Xinjiang - Shanxi 75-63

The most shocking disappointment of round 11 in the WCBA was a road defeat of 4th placed Flame (8-3) to eighth ranked Magic Deer (7-4) 75-63. Magic Deer outrebounded Flame 46-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for American center Natasha Howard (190-91, college: Florida St., agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 20 rebounds. Taiwanese Szu-Chin Peng (163-91) helped adding 13 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Point guard Tongtong Wu (176) responded with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and international Di Wu (186-90) scored 15 points. Flame's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Magic Deer have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Henan and Hebei. Flame at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Jiangsu. Magic Deer is looking forward to face higher ranked Beijing Great Wall (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Flame will play against the league's leader Vermilion Birds and is hoping to win this game.
