No shocking result in a game when third ranked Leiden (6-1) crushed on the road 9th ranked Amsterdam (1-9) 93-61. Leiden forced 20 Amsterdam turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Darius Thompson (193-95, college: W.Kentucky) who scored 19 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals. The other American import center Clayton Vette (202-88, college: Winona St., agency: Court Side) chipped in 19 points and 9 rebounds. Center Berend Weijs (207-88, college: Maryland) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Mack Bruining (188-97) added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Leiden maintains third position with 6-1 record having five points less than leader Zwolle. Amsterdam lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with nine games lost. Leiden's next round opponent will be Dutch Windmills (#5) in Dordrecht. Amsterdam will play on the road against Weert (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
