Regular Season Round 11: RAC Basket - Toulouse 81-79

There was an upset when higher ranked Toulouse (6-5) was edged on the road by eleventh ranked Rueil (5-6) 81-79 on Friday. Rueil looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Rashid Gaston (206-94, college: Norfolk St., agency: Inception Sports) who scored 21 points. Senegalese guard Lamine Sambe (188-89) chipped in 11 points and 9 assists. Four Rueil players scored in double figures. American forward Keonta Vernon (198-94, college: Grand Canyon) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and guard Pascal Tajan (191-91) added 18 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Rueil moved-up to tenth place in Group B, which they share with Stade Rochelais. Newly promoted Toulouse keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Rueil will face league's leader Vendee Challans at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Toulouse will play against Union Tours (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
