WCBA top team - Vermilion Birds (11-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat tenth ranked Blue Whales (5-6) in Dongguan 82-64. Vermilion Birds dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Blue Whales' 34. They outrebounded Blue Whales 48-30 including a 21-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Vermilion Birds players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a quality performance for international Sijing Huang (192-96) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. International center Yueru Li (192-99) accounted for 22 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side. Belarusian center Yelena Leuchanka (196-83, college: W.Virginia) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Xuetong Zhao (185-94) added 17 points respectively for Blue Whales in the defeat. Vermilion Birds have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-0 record. Blue Whales at the other side keep the tenth position with six games lost. They share it with Heilongjiang. Vermilion Birds will play against Flame (#5) in Taiyuan in the next round. Blue Whales will play on the road against the league's second-placed Bayi Kylin (#2) in Nanchang and hope to get back on the winning track.
