Regular Season Round 16: Akita NH - Niigata Albirex 58-65

Very expected game when 5th ranked Akita Happinets (4-12) lost at home to first ranked Niigata Albirex (12-4) 65-58 on Saturday. Strangely Akita Happinets outrebounded Niigata Albirex 39-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Quite impressive performance for American power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. The other American import Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Bahamas power forward Kadeem Coleby (206-89, college: Wichita St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds and American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Akita Happinets. Niigata Albirex have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-4 record, which they share with Chiba Jets. Newly promoted Akita Happinets keep the fifth place with 12 games lost. Niigata Albirex will have a break next round. Akita Happinets will play again at home against the league's leader Niigata Albirex (#1) and hope to win that game.
