Regular Season Round 9: Andorra - Unicaja 84-95
Date: November 17, 2018
There was no surprise when 9th ranked Andorra (4-5) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Unicaja Malaga (7-2) 95-84 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Unicaja Malaga. Andorra managed to win second period 27-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Unicaja Malaga looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-89) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). American point guard Brian Roberts (187-85, college: Dayton) chipped in 20 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Italian guard Michele Vitali (196-91) who recorded 10 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Canadian-Jamaican point guard Dylan Ennis (187-91, college: Oregon, agency: BeoBasket) added 15 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Unicaja Malaga moved-up to third place, which they share with Baskonia. Loser Andorra keeps the ninth position with five games lost. They share it with Valencia and Fuenlabrada. Unicaja Malaga will meet at home UCAM Murcia (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Andorra will play against Baloncesto Fuenlabrada in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
