Regular Season Round 9: Benidorm - L'Alfas 82-73

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Benidorm and 4th placed L'Alfas had identical 2-3 record. This time Benidorm used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Alfas Del Pi 82-73 on Saturday night. Benidorm forced 19 L'Alfas turnovers. It was a good game for power forward Unai Bereziartua (202-92) who led his team to a victory with 8 points and 16 rebounds. Point guard Miguel Ortin (172-98) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Benidorm players scored in double figures. Benidorm's coach Oscar Retortillo used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American power forward Willie Williams-III (200-88, college: Bridgeport) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import swingman JaDante Frye (193-94, college: Nicholls St.) added 22 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for L'Alfas. The victory was the third consecutive win for Benidorm. They moved-up to fourth place in Group E-B. Loser L'Alfas dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Benidorm will have a break next round. L'Alfas will play on the road against Cartagena (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
